Within the Mound of the Dark Grove
Is a stone inscribed treasure trove
Upon the central trunk are signs
Measures made in calendric lines
The spiral dance of seasonal moons
Is measured out with mystic runes
The warm life light of our daily star
Rises renewed on the horizon’s altar
The night frames the brilliant splendour
Of the heavenly camp fires waiting afar
In a moment we are born and we live
A future formed here is ours to give
In a cosmic blink we are dead and our way
To find the source of the heavenly display
For now we mark the seasons round
In the dark of the grove of the mound
These pictures show the closing of a day whose light brought wonder and a sense of an occasion to those set upon communing with our ancestors. Those that came before us have left us wonders to explore. Their homes and temples show us something of how they lived and how they died. At the remembrance time of Samhain 2015 the Dark Grove Mound of Bryn Celli Ddu was filled with people whose echoing voices may have sounded out a call not unlike so many that have sounded there before. Thank you to all those who made this day such a great on-going journey. This was the day before the night for which we had come, the night that would lead to the day we had to move on. At the Old New Year we look back and forward for everything that chooses this time to appear.
